JOB SUMMARY

 

Responsible for day-to-day scheduling of Petro Star Inc.’s (PSI) product distribution chain including inventory & refinery production management in conjunction with waterborne, rail and over-the-road transportation. Work closely with Marketing, Refining and Finance group to achieve target objectives. Support Petro Star terminals with timely coordination and daily updates as needed.  This position is required to work closely with the Director of Logistics to accomplish PSI’s goals to run a well-planned and efficient fuel production & distribution operation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  • Provide scheduling and coordination for transportation of PSI products via multiple modes.
  • Daily SQL system updates to support monitoring of inventory at two refineries (North Pole and Valdez) and six bulk fuel storage facilities (Anchorage, Fairbanks, Valdez, Kodiak, Dutch Harbor and St. Paul). 
  • Provide support and to maintain truck rack systems: pricing, volumes, rack outage/maintenance notifications, driver access to rack interface systems and driver contact/liaison for troubleshooting or other lock out scenarios. Work closely with Director of Logistics to make sure this is completed on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for updating SQL data system with daily updates and advanced production forecasting. Key SQL data includes refinery production data, barge load dates and barge volumes and destinations. This will require working closely with the Director of Logistics.
  • Assist with analysis of refinery production with both refineries to meet corporate marketing sales goals.
  • Assist in monthly inventory reconciliation process. Provide information to assist in companywide strategic plans, identify and resolve supply issues, determine transportation efficiency improvements and implement change.
  • Develop and maintain professional rapport with key accounts (customers, carriers, suppliers). Assistance with investigating disputes with key accounts and assist in appropriate resolutions.
  • Provide analysis for negotiations on freight rates with common carriers. 
  • Participate with marketing group in bid proposal process for military and commercial aviation contracts. Provide transportation analysis and cost estimates to meet customers’ resupply schedule.
  • Assistance with any necessary correspondence with customers regarding contract issues, pricing, delivery, or product specifications.
  • Stay current with job knowledge by studying industry trends; participate in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports for executive group by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity of the ASRC culture and traditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style with executive management, co-workers, subordinates, and outside personnel including industry experts.

DEPENDING ON CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS, THIS POSTION MAY ALSO ASSUME THESE DUTIES

  • Provide scheduling and coordination for transportation of PSI products via multiple modes.
  • Responsible for planning operations and assisting in developing logistics strategy that support the PSI Strategic Plan.
  • Manage and coordinate all product movements via railcar between Petro Star terminals. Primary contact for the Alaska Railroad Corp. regarding railcar movements.
  • Collaborate executive management to capitalize on spot sales and sales opportunities using available assets.  
  • Solicit for and assist in negotiations on freight rates with common carriers. 
  • Participate with marketing group in bid proposal process for military and commercial aviation contracts. Provide transportation analysis and cost estimates to meet customers’ resupply schedule.
  • Manage and coordinate any necessary correspondence with customers regarding contract issues, pricing, delivery, or product specifications.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, or other related discipline is preferred. Relevant work experience (5+ years) in petroleum industry, inventory control management, transportation and logistics, customer service and any additional industry training or certifications.  Relevant master’s degree and 8+ years of experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the transportation of fuel in Pacific North West and Alaska via marine, rail and trucking methods and the key industry companies. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of contracts and charter agreements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of data processing capabilities and procedures, including the use of modern computers and Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge in use of SQL Database preferred.
