Under the general direction of the VP of Human Resources & Compliance or designee, the Recruiter provides day-to-day recruiting services under a shared services model to the corporate team as well as various operating lines while working with minimal supervision and maintaining confidentiality. As a member of the recruiting team, the Recruiter will work to successfully source top talent, build a talent pipeline, and help create attraction strategies. The duties include up to 25% travel within Alaska for hiring, recruiting, and community events, conducting preliminary screening of applicants, establishing, and maintaining recruitment files, data information systems and records, compiling reports, conducting research for passive and direct recruitment, contacting candidates, coordinating interviews and frequently communicating with hiring managers and rest of recruiting and core HR team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  • Assist in performing and coordinating day-to-day recruiting activities under the shared services model and open, manage and close all assigned requisitions.
  • Conduct intake and progress meetings with client groups and hiring managers regarding recruitment needs and open requisitions.
  • Partner with recruiting team, operations, External Affairs, and other departments to successfully market employment opportunities and network for candidates and assist with preparation of recruiting materials, including flyers, social media posts and brochures that have a professional appearance and reflect current trends in recruiting best practices. 
  • Provide full-cycle or end-to-end recruiting services using tools provided or identified to actively source top talent, track candidates through the entire hiring process, prepare recruiting reports, and track assigned metrics.
  • Communicate status of openings with hiring managers and HR team on a scheduled basis with an emphasis on strong customer service and transparent communication. 
  • Provide recruiting guidance and support to hiring managers, including educating them on the recruiting and onboarding process, assisting with screening applicants, preparing draft interview questions, sharing best practices and process for evaluating candidates and guiding operations’ onboarding efforts.  advice on the evaluation of candidates. 
  • Ensure and assist with successful new hire on-boarding and orientation.
  • With guidance and direction from the VP of Human Resources & Compliance and senior recruiting staff, establish, maintain, and leverage partnerships with vocational/tech schools, community partners, colleges, select high schools, and other facilities. 
  • Develop and foster long-term relationships with current job seekers and passive candidates that may lead to hiring or further networking.
  • With guidance and direction from the VP of Human Resources & Compliance and senior recruiting staff, plan and attend targeted recruitment events, job fairs, and seminars and follow up on leads identified at same.
  • Complete additional assignments, participate in group projects, and attend meetings as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture and remote work environments.
  • Minimum of two years of administrative experience and some recruitment work experience.   
  • Must have a strong technical knowledge of database, spreadsheet, word processing and marketing design software, including strong command of all MS Word, Adobe, and Canva  products and similar software or willingness and ability to become proficient in same immediately upon hire.
  • Must have a strong technical knowledge of social media and online recruiting forums or a willingness and ability to become proficient immediately upon hire. 
  • Must have excellent organizational and professional communication skills and strong commitment to customer service. 
  • Must be solution oriented and able to work collaboratively as well as independently to assess situations and propose solutions. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or college course work preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and operational instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine professional and succinct reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of people and to a large volume of people in a small period of time (such at a recruiting event with hundreds of attendees).

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphic reports.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to sit and stand for long periods of time at events, set up tables/signs at events and reach with hands and arms. .  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and load items in/out of a car and buildings to set up for events.   Specific vision abilities required by this job includes the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment is in a busy office setting.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft for overnight and/or multi-day trips.
