The HRIS Technician is responsible for accurately entering and updating employee information in various HR systems. This role ensures that personnel data is current, accurate, and compliant with company policies and legal regulations. The Technician supports HR operations by maintaining employee records and processing new hire information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
- Enter and update employee information in HR databases, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Responsible for onboarding and offboarding activities, including entering employee data into the HR systems, submitting IT requests, and ensuring necessary notices are submitted timely.
- Maintain and organize employee records, including personal details, job titles, and compensation information.
- Maintain assigned HR systems, including auditing, regular maintenance, and system updates.
- Receive, track, enter employee change documents.
- Complete employee verifications.
- Maintain employee data and provide reports from the various HR systems used by the Department.
- Perform system audits to ensure compliance and timely entry.
- Participate in human resource meetings and other relevant meetings.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers; act as a HR point-of-contact for company employees.
- Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart.
- Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
- Assist with system maintenance, including testing system updates.
- Research and resolve issues within the scope of the position.
- Assist with special projects.
- Support recruiting activities, as needed.
- Travel to job site locations or events, as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years’ experience with data entry or related HR roles.
- A Professional Human Resources Certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of Oracle applications is preferred.
- Skill in the use of Microsoft products, including Excel and Word at an intermediate level.
- Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work environment is in a busy office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
