The Estimator actively contributes to the preparation of estimates across a diverse portfolio of projects and contract types, including Design-Bid-Build (DBB), Design-Build (D-B), and Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) delivery methods. The incumbent works with the project team to identify and distribute estimating/proposal duties, communicating effectively on scope and schedule with potential subcontractors, performing pricing and takeoff for permanent materials, and helping to quantify production rates on scopes of work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review drawings, specifications, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required basis for an estimate.
Perform a take-off from bid documents to identify man hours and the required costs including materials, labor, and special equipment requirements.
Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Visit the proposed project site to examine site conditions and existing facilities for the new scope of work.
Request and review subcontractor and supplier bids for complete scope coverage and accuracy.
Participate in the development of bid strategies required for the company to be successful as well as plan and coordinate and supervise projects.
Assist teams to determine what types of projects to bid on, strategies, techniques, etc.
Assist in the review of final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.
Assist with negotiations and/or contract terms and conditions, as needed.
Participate in presentations to management and clients.
Participate in post-bid reviews to improve unit cost, estimating methods, and databases.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Five (5) years’ overall construction experience (may include trade, or project management) including organizational skills, supervisory responsibilities, decision making, as well as problem solving skills.
Two (2) or more years of experience in similar facility construction estimating or proposal development.
Experience in construction and estimating vertical construction, concrete, and related functions.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Experience with estimating software tools
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or another related field.
Knowledge and understanding of vertical construction to include foundation concrete, structural steel, roofing, and wall systems
Advanced management or technical training preferred.
