JOB SUMMARY

The Counter Sales is a member of the Builders Choice Lumber sales team and is responsible for customer sales, including pulling and preparing orders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist customers in-person, over the phone, or email.
  • Pull and prepare orders.
  • Answer customers' questions regarding products, pricing, availability, and payment options.
  • Consult with customers to aid in the appropriate selection and purchase of merchandise.
  • Work with colleagues throughout the organization to ensure excellent customer experience from the order inception to receipt by the customer.
  • Work hand-in-hand with management, by performing the administrative functions required to achieve the task at hand.
  • Ensures proper handling of building materials to limit damage, including packaging materials for transportation.
  • Moves material from the warehouse or yard using a forklift, hand truck or other types of equipment.   
  • Properly builds loads considering the end users order of use, weight, and proper placement on the truck in relation to the delivery schedule. 
  • Listen and respond empathetically when faced with customer concerns.  Seek quick resolution to issues raised.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of construction industry experience.
  • At least one (1) year of sales or customer service experience.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products and other windows-based programs at a beginner level.
  • Ability to meet safety requirements for the position.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work outside or in a cold environment for long durations.
  • Ability to work varying hours and overtime as required by the position.

Preferred

  • Forklift experience and certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Three (3) years, or more, working in shipping and receiving or another related field.
