JOB SUMMARY

The Construction Engineer I provides project coordination for projects of ASRC Construction and its subsidiaries. Construction Engineers assist at both the job site and office locations throughout Alaska.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Construction Project Management

  • Coordinate in planning and proactively managing construction projects to achieve quality, schedule, budget, and safety objectives.
  • Basic understanding for reading and interpret plans, specifications, and any other documentation associated with constructing buildings and sites, emphasizing civil construction plans and specifications.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, architects/engineers, and Owners/clients for an efficient and successful project for all team members.
  • Coordinate the project engineer and field personnel. 
  • Organize daily reporting to the Project Manager for construction progress.
  • Coordinate meetings. 
  • Procurement of small tools and supplies and consumables.
  • Travel to project location on a regular basis. 

Estimating

  • Assist with material and quantity take-offs
  • Organize and prepare quotes and bid books.

Quality Control Support

  • Coordinate quality control procedures, both in the field and in the office, to ensure that the project specifications are met.
  • Obtains construction materials and verifies that they are received in the field, as they were ordered.
  • Organize and maintain project documents and photos.
  • Request submittals from subcontractors and vendors. 

Safety Support

  • Coordinate field staff with safety documentation organization.
  • Lead by example and support zero-incident culture. 

Project Controls

  • Support team with lookahead schedules 
  • Support and organize construction production rate metrics.
  • Support with month-end reporting. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Strong knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems.

  • Ability to comply with, understand, and support ASRC Construction's safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure with deadlines and tight schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) year related experience, with increasing responsibility. 
  • Skilled in the use of Windows and the Microsoft product suite at an intermediate level

 Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or another related field. 
  • Experience working in the construction industry. 
  • Experience using scheduling software (Primavera P6 and MS Project).
