The Petro Star systems integrity department is responsible for the reliability of Petro Star assets at facilities including the Valdez and North Pole refineries, terminals located in Anchorage, Kodiak, Dutch Harbor and Valdez and Sourdough convenience stores in the Fairbanks area.  The department ensures that assets are maintained in accordance with various Codes and Federal and State regulations. The full-time position will be located in Fairbanks, AK and may require travel to Petro Star facilities listed above.  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  • Maintenance of equipment files for facilities.
    • Electronic file maintenance
      • Ensure that all incoming documentation is properly filed and create a uniform file system across all applicable facilities.
      • Ensure that all current documentation in the facility hard files is available in electronic format.
    • Hard file maintenance 
      • Import documents that are currently available only in the hard files and convert to accessible electronic format.
      • Develop system for hard file archival.
      • Develop uniform hard file document filing system at all facilities.
  • Establish a rotating equipment inspection/maintenance program.
    • Gather information from facilities and build assets in ManagerPlus.
    • Establish preventive maintenance procedures and intervals in ManagerPlus.
    • Troubleshoot and provide support for repair/replacement of rotating equipment.
    • Assist with inventory/control of maintenance parts and supplies.
  • Assist in the oversight of the Petro Star management of change (MOC) program.
  • Practical Experience with industrial operations (pipelines, plants, processing facilities, mining sites, municipal infrastructure) and asset management programs
  • Work with maintenance personnel to improve troubleshooting and precision maintenance skills and procedures
  • Resolve chronic equipment failures using proven investigative tools such as cause mapping, five why, fishbone, etc.
  • Other duties as required.


  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, (Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word), AutoCAD and ManagerPlus.
  • High school graduate, bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred.
  • Practical experience with industrial operations (pipelines, refineries, terminals) and asset management programs.
    • Knowledge of applicable Codes, standards, and federal/state regulations.
    • Ability to read and understand process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s)
    • Understanding of basic refinery/terminal fixed and rotating equipment and instrumentation.
    • Familiarity with the management of change (MOC) process and required documentation.
  • Experience with root cause failure analysis (RCFA).
