The Maintenance/Operations Technician is an hourly position on a 4/11 work schedule reporting directly to the Terminal Manager. The Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections of terminal equipment to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  1. Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on terminal equipment, including pumps, valves, meters, and other mechanical systems.
  2. Conduct inspections and perform diagnostic testing on equipment, reporting any discrepancies or needed repairs.
  3. Rebuild control valves, meters, swivels, and pumps.
  4. Demonstrate proficiency and knowledge required to operate and maintain terminal equipment.
  5. Complete maintenance projects and repairs promptly to minimize operational disruptions.
  6. Respond to equipment failures and emergencies promptly, implementing corrective actions.
  7. Maintain appropriate inventories of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
  8. Ensure compliance with established health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  9. Participate in safety meetings, tool-box talks, and training sessions.
  10. Adhere to established procedures and good maintenance practices.
  11. Ensure product quality control standards are consistently met.
  12. Follow lock-out/tag-out and permit-to-work procedures rigorously.
  13. Use ManagerPlus, or other Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS), for all company maintenance duties.
  14. Complete necessary documentation for all maintenance tasks performed.
  15. Perform or support terminal operations duties, as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. High school diploma or equivalent. 
  2. Technical degree, i.e., chemical, petroleum, electrical or mechanical
  3. Minimum of five (5) years’ fuels terminal experience or equivalent experience
  4. Practical experience in construction, Terminal operations, control systems, instrumentation, maintenance, and safety.
  5. A valid driving license is required; an Alaska driver's license must be obtained if relocating from outside Alaska.
  6. Demonstrated Word and Excel skills

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee is required to sit; reach with hands and arms; and to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  The employee is required to stand, walk, climb or balance.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, perform Job function at heights up to 150 feet.   Specific vision abilities required by this job includes the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The work environment is inside/outside duties exposed to extreme weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually high while performing the duties of this job; the employee will be exposed to changing weather conditions.
