Petro Star Inc. operates North Pacific Fuel (NPF), a full service fuel company, as North Pacific Fuel in Kodiak.  We provide a variety of services to our Kodiak customers, including full-service heating fuel distribution, marine fuel and lubricant sales, propane sales, as  well as operate and two gas stations, all while meeting the Petro Star commitment to customer service that's second to none.

In Kodiak, Petro Star Inc. operates as North Pacific Fuel. Backed by a combined experience of over 100 years, our staff is committed to providing you with the best service available. We distribute heating fuel to residential and commercial customers, as well as to various government agencies. We also carry a full line of Unocal lubricants, filters, degreasers, and cleaners in packaged stock inventory. And we're available on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.



The Dock Attendant is responsible for day to day dock and Terminal duty operations with diligence and courtesy towards customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  • Fuel boats on the marine dock.
  • Clean and maintain the Kodiak Terminal and dock.
  • Fill propane bottles and verify that the tank is safe to fill using proper safety precautions.
  • Stock, store and shelf lube oil, filters and miscellaneous products.
  • Assist customers with needs such as fuel, lube, filters and miscellaneous products.
  • Participate in emergency oil spill response situations.
  • Participate in all required training and drills.
  • On call after hours on weekdays and weekends, in rotation with other Terminal personnel.
  • Must learn and become proficient with computer system and customer account system.
  • Operate forklift and use small hand tools safely.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, prioritize and organize.
  • Perform light maintenance on equipment as needed.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment when required.


  • High School diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must apply for a TWIC® card (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) within 30 days from date of hire.
  • It is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 (MTSA) that you obtain a valid TWIC card in order to work at this facility.  You must keep your TWIC card current and valid as a condition of employment.
  • Driver’s License required.
  • Either have or willing to obtain an Alaska A or B CDL license with X endorsement and CDL medical card at your own personal expense (within six months from date of hire).
  • Must be able to use and wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Previous dock attendant experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of petroleum products and HAZWOPER training is helpful.
  • Basic computer skills helpful.



Pre-employment Non-DOT ADEC drug testing and participation in a random drug testing pool thereafter will be required.
If you have a CDL, or at the time a CDL is obtained, a pre-employment DOT/FMCSA drug test will be required before using the CDL on the job. Participation in a DOT/FMCSA random drug and alcohol testing pool thereafter will be required.

This is not a rotational job on the North Slope.  You must live in the Kodiak area or be willing to relocate at your own expense.
