The Yard Lead is a member of the yard crew with the responsibility of supporting the Yard Manager with managing material handlers & delivery staff in facilitating the timely flow of materials to and from customers and vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
Manage the yard functions including general organization, maintenance, fulfillment of orders, receiving and delivery.
Oversee day-to-day functions of the yard crew.
Conducts safety meetings and completes monthly safety audits.
Ensure proper handling of building materials to limit damage.
Facilitate proper packaging of building materials to minimize damage during loading & transportation.
Move material from the warehouse or yard using a forklift, hand truck or other types of equipment.
Properly builds loads considering the end users order of use, weight, and proper placement on the truck in relation to the delivery schedule.
Communicate and coordinate with employees to ensure on time and accurate fulfillment\receiving of sales and purchase orders.
Communicates effectively with will call customers to safely transfer loads onto customer trucks and trailers.
Move, lift, and handle material shipments as required when offloading company freight.
Assess hazardous material shipments, completes the applicable forms required for compliance.
Travel to job sites and fulfill deliveries, as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Three (3) years’ or more working in shipping or receiving.
One (1) year of supervisory experience.
Ability to work outside or in a cold environment for long durations.
Preferred
Forklift experience and certification preferred.

The work environment is in a busy construction setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually varies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
