Calling all anglers and outdoor enthusiasts. Spawn a new career this summer!   AES needs your help to fill summer positions with full benefits at Alaska fish hatcheries, where you can put your skills to work to help manage the life cycle of salmon.  These are not cannery/fish processor jobs!  You will be using your craft skills to perform similar jobs as are available on the slope.  Employees who perform well in these positions will receive first priority consideration for AES oil & gas positions beginning as soon as the fall when oil prices improve, and you will continue to be on a priority waitlist if not immediately placed.

Employees will work a minimum of 8 hours a day in the great outdoors, and overtime may be available.  These positions include the following flexibility and benefits:

The AES in-house staffing firm E&P Technology, Inc. (EPT) will be placing individuals for summer hire.  

About Hatcheries

Hatcheries are not canneries/fish processors. A fish hatchery is a place for artificial breeding, hatching, and rearing through the early life stages of animals Alaska hatcheries produce salmon to enhance commercial, sport, subsistence, and personal use fisheries. There are twenty-five private nonprofit salmon hatcheries operating in the State of Alaska, spanning from Kodiak to Southeast Alaska. 

Position Details

The Receiving Clerk / Delivery Driver is responsible for assisting the Purchasing/Logistics Manager, Logistics Lead, and Distribution Center staff in the purchasing, shipping, receiving, and distribution activities. This position will also transport freight to and from the barge landing sites and vendor locations.

  • Drive a box van to make deliveries, pick up orders, and purchase supplies.  
  • Receive incoming deliveries, accurately count delivered supplies to the corresponding purchase order, and record damages or discrepancies. 
  • Consolidate documentation for each delivery (i.e. purchase orders, invoices, receipts, manifests, etc.)
  • Maintain shipping manifest, bill of ladings, delivery schedule and receiving summaries. 
  • Label, weigh, organize, and consolidate supplies for compliance with shipping regulations and according to delivery schedules. 
  • Operate a forklift to receive and unload freight from vendor deliveries in a safe manner. 
  • Perform general cleanup, maintenance, and repair to facility. 
  • Use computers and computer software to conduct routine data entry or output. 
  • Load shipping vans and flatbed trailer using proper weight distribution procedures and adhering to the Alaska Department of Transportation standards. 
  • Implement preventative maintenance schedules for vehicles and equipment. 
  • Maintain an inventory of parts for minor repairs to trucks and vans.
  • Record and track maintenance activities log, chassis registrations, equipment inspection and repair records. 
  • Recommends procedures, techniques and new equipment to improve work efficiencies.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needs require. 
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

  • Must be able to move about freely.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb stairs without assistance.
  • One year experience in receiving, shipping, logistics or similar work.
  • Must currently have or be eligible to obtain a federal Transportation Worker Identification Card.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Must have knowledge of 49CFR and 29CFR regulations for handling, labeling and shipping of Hazardous Materials. 

  • Valid Class A CDL with no moving violations, suspensions, or at-fault accidents for the past 36 months.
  • Valid driver's license required.

A candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:                                                               

  • Meet the AES Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy
  • Take and pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both UA and hair testing.                         
  • Meet the physical requirements of this position including working in a remote location under arctic conditions.
  • Required to take and pass a Fit-For-Duty Exam.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location.

The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company’s continued operational needs once training is completed.
