As the Manager of Network Engineering within the IT department, you’ll utilize your technical expertise to design and maintain a high performing, complex hybrid infrastructure.
In this role, the Manager of Network Engineering will be the technical lead for the network infrastructure environment. This role will also work with Sr. IT Leadership and other business units to meet project goals and provide solutions to complex issues. Technical lead of network engineers, delegates responsibilities, holds network engineers accountable and identifies gaps in talent and high performers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
Strategy & Planning
- Technical lead for network engineering team
- Network Engineer Lead for IT projects, ensure successful design and deployment.
- Reviews all network design proposals and provides feedback to network engineering team.
- Mentor and train network engineering staff to ensure they have the tools to be successful.
- Effective communication skills and customer service with the ability to communicate IT issues to Sr IT Leadership.
- Manage vendor relationships - consultants, managed service providers, telco vendors and sales teams.
- Manage switches, routers, SDWAN technology, firewalls, cloud infrastructure, wireless, telco circuits
- Manage 24/7/365 network operations to ensure ASRC IT customer’s IT needs are met.
- Define team roles and responsibilities. This position requires the Manager to ensure the right person is in the right position.
- Technical lead that will oversee network infrastructure security, firewalls/IPS – load balancers – policies – access control lists – zero trust. This role will be required to design and review configurations for all architecture and devices related to the network infrastructure.
- Monitor network reports and metrics to ensure network is operating at an optimal level
- Provide day to day support to ASRC IT customers by ensuring IT service tickets assigned to the Network Team are being addressed and resolved within established SLA parameters.

- Maintain data center connectivity throughout the lower 48 and Alaska
- Knowledge and understanding of all relevant industry standards.
- Experience with protocols that include: BGP, OSPF, Static Routes, QoS, Layer3 routing, Spine/Leaf, VxLAN
- Strong network design skills
- Knowledge of IT networks, servers, storage and security technologies.
- Experience managing networks in colocation data center facilities.
- An ability to think critically about systems and to make adjustments consistently as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Supervise all employees within the department. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, disciplining, coaching and training, addressing and resolving employee concerns, planning, assigning, directing work and assessing job performance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher, or a minimum of 7-10 years of network engineering management experience.
- Possesses an IT Enterprise level understanding of:
- Various PC types and manufacturers
- Peripherals – printers/scanners/multi-function devices
- Mobile devices – phones/tablets
- Cybersecurity requirements and best practices
- Multiple IT domains across an Enterprise
- Application programming, database, and system design
- Business relationship management and conflict resolution
- Risk and impact analysis and resolution
- Various PC types and manufacturers
- Skilled in taking the initiative at the right time and being proactive to reduce customer impact.
- Skilled in effectively targeting the right type of communications to appropriate audiences.
- Experienced at managing and growing vendor relationships.
- Uses business acumen to influence project outcomes with various IT departments, business groups (Legal, HR, Payroll, Procurement, etc.), steering committees, business partners, internal and external teams, and other key stakeholders.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The work environment is in a busy office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
This position is required to travel up to 10% of the time, pending current IT projects and initiatives.
