Lead Equipment Operator – Kuparuk Field Support Services – Roads & Pads Group
JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Equipment Operator is responsible for providing support to O&M Operations through the operation of multiple pieces of heavy-duty equipment, assisting in the planning and coordinating of the daily workload, carrying out projects, and ensuring the safe operation of the heavy-equipment fleet. The candidate will work alongside heavy equipment operators and oversee their daily work of maintaining and repairing roads, the airport runway, drill site pads, winter road, and pad maintenance which includes snow removal, along with material handling and organization on the pads. This position also includes setting up critical crane picks and managing crane support for the Alpine field. Manpower will be utilized based on the daily scope of work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· This position reports directly to the Roads & Pads Foreman.
· The R&P’s Operator Lead must be able to perform pad, road, runway maintenance and repair. The roads, runway and pads will be maintained to specified crown, grade, and elevation. Winter road, runway and pad maintenance include snow removal. Supplying the facilities, assisting in facility maintenance and construction with equipment support. Provide drill rig moves with equipment support.
· This position will oversee a range of 6 to 10 heavy equipment operators on a rotating night/day shift rotation.
· This position involves being able to become OSHA certified in trenching and excavation and to perform trenching and excavating activities in a safe and proficient manner.
· Capable of using rotary lasers and site levels to establish grades and set hubs and stakes.
· Prepare, update, and maintain logs, records, and timecards.
· Should be familiar with the pad dewatering process and the operation of the equipment involved in dewatering.
· This is a heavy equipment operating position, and the candidate selected must be able to operate the equipment in Kuparuk’s fleet safely and proficiently. The fleet consists of but is not limited to dozers, front end loaders, compactors, excavators, Kenworth, Peterbilt 5th wheel tractors, skid steers, 14 – 16 Cat blades, lowboy, flat bed and end dump trailers, water trucks, Loader mounted snow Blowers, Heaters, Light towers, rock trucks, box grader.
· This position is responsible for the training and mentoring of all employees, including driving check offs.
· Be able to monitor equipment operation, perform pre-operation inspections, identify malfunctions, fill out maintenance requests and clean equipment.
· Needs to be able to inspect, adjust, and perform minor equipment repairs.
· Help prepare and maintain inventory of supplies, PPE, equipment, and tools.
· Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
· Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
· Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
· A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
· A valid (U.S issued, Alaska compliant) Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements is required.
· A current DOT Medical Card is required.
· A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
· The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 2x2 rotation is required.
· At least three (3) years of work experience in Kuparuk Roads & Pads Group is required.
· Must be able to pass the written and practical examination for all equipment operated at Kuparuk.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Three (3) or more years of experience working in the Oil and Gas industry, North Slope, and/or in the Arctic Environment is preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE
While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
