The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for performing the full range of journey-level electrical duties including the installation and maintenance of industrial electrical systems. This position works with high and low voltage systems and performs all work in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (AND OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED)

 

  • Be familiar and perform Maintenance and Troubleshooting on 480 and 120-volt circuits. Perform general facility maintenance functions such as troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance, using various test instruments.
  • Install, repair, and maintain breaker boxes, electrical outlets, light switches, lighting fixtures, electrical wiring, fuses, and other components of an electrical system. 
  • Operate electrical equipment and tools such as hydraulic benders, knockout punch sets, cable pullers, volt meters, and testers. 
  • Pull 13.8 KV rig cable by hand to hook up rig and camp power.
  • Change light bulbs and repair lighting fixtures.
  • Test electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of electrical parts and equipment. 
  • Applicants must have an in-depth background and understanding of Zone Rated Electrical Systems.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support the AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED, completion of accepted training program with a minimum of four years or 8,000 hours related experience and Electrician license required. Working knowledge of programmable logic controls, distributed control systems, and programmable control systems preferred. Experience in the oil and gas industry and in the arctic environment preferred.

 

CERTIFICATIONS

State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness in appropriate classification required, Current NFPA 70E Certification required, North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification and a valid driver’s license is required.

A candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:                                                               

  • Take and pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both UA and hair testing.                         
  • Meet the physical requirements of this position including working in a remote location under arctic conditions.
  • Required to take and pass a Fit-For-Duty Exam.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location.

The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company’s continued operational needs once training is completed.
