JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Tank Farm Supervisor, the primary function of this position is to ensure fuel delivery to the Barrow airports and to monitor the inventory of diesel fuel in storage.  All Tank Farm Operators must comply with the requirements of the State of Alaska Department of Transportation regulations.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
  1. Assist in maintaining the fuel dispensers and fuel lines at the Gas Station on daily basis.  To include tanks, valves and pumps at the Tank Farm on daily basis.
  2. Coordinate and deliver aviation fuel deliveries to Barrow airports.  To include keeping Gas Station tanks topped off.
  3. Maintain oil spill response kits and assists the Assistant Manager of Operations with deployment, installation, removal, or other use of spill response equipment and materials
  4. Assist with inventory measurements of all fuel tanks.
  5. Assist in maintaining repairs of equipment, keeping Tank Farm area and Gas Station clean if needed.
  6. Coordinate with Gas Station Attendants for pickup of Kerosene, Propane, and AV gas containers.  To include refills of the propane bottles, kerosene and AV gas containers.
  7. Report and/or repair any problems, such as vandalism, pumps out of order, and fuel leaks, burnt out lights or snow removal.
  8. Conduct fuel deliveries on an on-call basis as scheduled.
  9. Conduct daily inspections on fuel tankers withy proper forms prior to deliveries.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  1. The ability to speak and understand the Inupiaq language is important and preferred. Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.     
  2. High school or equivalent certification.
  3. Valid Alaska Commercial Driver’s License and medical card.
  4. Must be able to work independently and must be willing to work shifts that vary from day to night and operate seven days a week.
  5. 40-hour Hazwoper certification is required.
  6. Hazardous Material Certification is required
  7. Hazardous Communication Certification is required.
  8. Confined Space Certification is required
  9. First Aid CPR Training is required
  10. Spill Response Training is required.
  11. Must be able to attain Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
