Under the general direction of the Manager or Assistant Manager of Parts, this position is to support the business activities of Eskimos, Inc. NAPA Parts & Supplies store. This is a responsible position that may involve supervision, provides assistance to various department heads in administrative areas, and works with minimal instruction or supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
- Be functionally literate and capable of understanding and recognizing part numbers and line codes to ensure the proper selection of parts for the customers.
- Directly responsible for all customer special order procedures.
- Must be capable of finding the correct parts application in either the published NAPA catalogs or computer cataloging system.
- Fully and quickly address customer sales and service questions, problems, and opportunities through all available resources.
- Prepares sales slips or sales contracts. Receives payment or obtains credit authorization.
- Wraps or bags merchandise for customers.
- Examines returned part to determine if defective or core, and exchanges part or refunds money.
- Prepare end-of-day business transactions. This will include preparation of reconciliation sheets, counting till, bringing the computer down, and depositing money bags on a daily basis.
- Fills customer orders from stock. Whenever necessary, will order parts as requested by the customer. Advises customer on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and organizational skills in a professional manner.
- Maintain or assist staff with inventory and merchandise records.
- Work and assist to improve profitability and success of stocking dealer accounts utilizing all resources.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
- 4 years of experience in automotive parts sales or related field.
- High School diploma or equivalent certification.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- The ability to speak and understand the Inupiaq language is important and preferred but not required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work environment is in a busy store, office, or outside setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions, may frequently be exposed to extreme cold, and occasional exposed to extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The incumbent may be required to travel in small and large commercial fixed wing aircraft.
