ASRC Builders seeks a Contractor Quality Control Systems Manager (CQCSM) for projects throughout Alaska with demonstrated experience with multiple types of complex federal construction projects, including U.S. Army Corps of Engineers vertical projects. Relocation is not available, however, lodging and meals will be provided. Residents of Alaska may be given preference.

The desired candidate should have demonstrated training and certification in the quality control and safety fields working with multiple management levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implementation of a project-specific Quality Control plan
  • Comprehensive understanding of contract documents, including plans, specifications and supplemental data.
  • Working with superintendents and subcontractors in preparing technical submittals
  • Performing QC inspections at the jobsite using both written requirements and extensive construction experience
  • Preparation of a “QC Daily Report” for Government review
  • Planning, scheduling and conducting quality control meetings with project stakeholders
  • Oversight and management of subcontractor, vendor and supplier QC programs, including submittals, quality reports and closeout documentation
  • Coordination and review of purchase orders for contract compliance
  • Receiving and inspection of materials
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1926, 1910, and USACE EM-385-1-1 regulatory requirements as it pertains to heavy industrial or commercial construction.
  • Must have completed the USACE Construction Quality Control course or complete within 30 days of offer.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of building systems including, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire alarm.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Sound administrative skills, well-developed management skills-principles and people.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in construction quality control and are International Code Council (ICC) Certified as a Commercial Building Inspector.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems is required.
  • Completion of the course entitled Construction Quality Management for Contractors or ability to complete within 30 days of hire.
  • Skill in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1926, 1910, and USACE EM-385-1-1 regulatory requirements as it pertains to heavy industrial or commercial construction.
  • Completed the 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety course or ability to complete within 30 days of hire.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the USACE 3-Phase Quality Control System.

Preferred

  • Engineering, architectural or construction management degree.
  • Five (5) years of construction experience
  • Experience managing federal projects for clients such as US Army Corps of Engineers, US Air Force, GSA and/or NAVFAC.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to safely perform the essential functions of this position. Talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.

Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Vision abilities include: close\distance focus, color\peripheral vision, depth perception.

The work environment is in a busy construction setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually varies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
