JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Food & Beverage Manager, the primary functions of this position is to prepare and serve specialty coffee and other beverages. Serve food such as baked goods or sandwiches to patrons.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
- Receive and process customer payments.
- Prepare and serve hot/cold beverages, such as coffee, blended drinks or tea.
- Serve prepared foods, such as muffins or sandwiches.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment. Take out the trash.
- Describe options to customers or suggest products that may appeal to them.
- Stock area with products needed for coffee shop.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
- Previous cash and credit card handling experience.
- Must be able to work independently.
- The ability to speak and understand the Inupiaq language is important and preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work environment is in a busy office and hotel setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The incumbent is required to work alone at various times during the day or evening. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions, may frequently be exposed to extreme cold, and occasionally exposed to extreme heat and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
