The Accounts Payable Specialist provides assistance to the Accounts Payable Supervisor with the accounts payable administration. 


  • Enter accounts payable and subcontract invoices into the accounting system
  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval(s) prior to payment
  • Match purchase orders, as applicable, to accounts payable invoices
  • Interface with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure submitted invoice information is complete and accurate
  • Process accounting transactions for all related companies
  • Verify and review a variety of accounting transaction forms, records, and source documents for compliance
  • Validate and distribute documents as required for internal processing of records (e.g., route for signatures in accordance with ACHC authority matrix)
  • Prints and obtains signatures on all accounts payable checks; distributes signed checks as required
  • Respond to request for information as required
  • Review, investigate, and correct errors, and inconsistencies in entries as applicable
  • Responsible for preparing and handling all company checks on weekly basis or as required by management including set-up EFT transactions
  • Perform all necessary accounts payable entry work to comply with the month-end close process
  • Electronically file all supporting accounts payable documentation in accounting ERP system
  • Operate office equipment as required: copiers, scanners, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma/GED, vocational training or college course work preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of general accounting practices, procedures and routines
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of accounts receivable functions, routines and guidelines 
  • Ability to operate computer systems relating to accounting and financial reporting 
  • Proficient written and oral communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Professional level of confidentiality in handling employee and company information
  • Ability and wiliness to abide by ACHC code of conduct, policies and procedures
  • Comply, understand, and support ACHC safety culture to ensure a safe work environment
  • Display knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages
  • Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
