JOB SUMMARY

The Project Manager oversees the day-to-day management of construction projects as well as assists the team with estimating new projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote shareholder hire on all projects.
  • Oversee the construction project from start to finish.
  • Chart out the project objectives and plans, sets performance requirements, selects project participants and assigns individual responsibilities.
  • Bring about the optimum utilization of resources – labor, materials and equipment and ensures their procurement at the most cost effective terms.
  • Manage and enforce our quality control and quality assurance procedures.
  • Prepare project schedules in Primavera P6 and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Ensure all required permits, licenses, insurance, clearances, etc. are procured for the project prior to mobilization.
  • Ensure all required legal postings, MSDS, HazCom, wage statements, etc. are posted on the jobsite (Coordinate closely with our Safety Department and the superintendent).
  • Ensure the jobsite has the manpower, materials and equipment necessary to complete the project on time.
  • Visit the jobsite to inspect and provide support as needed.
  • Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Responsible for project communication and documentation, as required on the contract.
  • Track and report team hours and expenses on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Manage project budget.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, monitors receivables and follows up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
  • Analyzes project profitability.
  • Prepare job “cost to date & cost to complete” projection reports as required. 
  • Ensure that field cost coding of labor is accurate and correct in addition to quantity reporting.
  • Facilitate team and client meetings effectively.
  • Hold regular status meetings with project team and informs them of relevant changes in the project.
  • Direct communication regarding questions and issues from the field to the appropriate party.
  • Communicates relevant project information to superiors.
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Assignment of Level I or II is based on the size and complexity of the project(s).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability and willingness to abide by the company’s code of conduct, policies and procedures.

  • Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
  • Ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of building systems including, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire alarm, with the ability to investigate Operations and Maintenance manuals to schedule routine maintenance and build an inventory of critical spares. 
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet assigned deadlines. 
  • Sound administrative skills, well-developed management skills-principles and people.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or another related field.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience with increasingly responsible management positions within a construction company and\or business.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products at an intermediate level. 
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. 
  • Ability to complete Supervisor Signs and Symptoms training within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to complete OSHA 10 hour Construction or General Industry within 90 days of hire

Preferred

  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
  • Proficient using P6, Vista, Microsoft Office, WinEst.

The work environment is in a busy construction setting.  The noise level in the work environment is usually varies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
