Petro Star is comprised of several divisions dedicated to meeting the unique challenges of producing and distributing fuel and lubricants throughout Alaska. In Fairbanks, Petro Star Heating Fuel operates as Sourdough Fuel, serving the needs of customers throughout Interior and Northern Alaska. We're proud to deliver heating fuel to thousands of customers on automatic delivery system and thousands of others on an "on call" basis. We maintain a fleet of heating fuel trucks for fuel deliveries to homes and businesses, and large tanker trucks which bring fuel from our refinery to our bulk plant at Sourdough's headquarters.
For customer convenience, we also offer furnace maintenance service during normal business hours, a budget payment plan, and "prompt payment," senior citizen and military discounts. Petro Star is also proud to employ 300 Alaskans, most of whom are long-time Alaskans and active community members.
Hourly Pay: $40/hr
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the PSI/Sourdough Fuel Lead Burner Technician, The Burner Technician is responsible for providing superior service by engaging customers (internal and external) over the phone and in person to ensure an exceptional experience. Performs a variety of standard to moderately complex technical tasks related to servicing, installing, maintaining and repairing Boilers and Furnaces of residential and small commercial heating systems in Fairbanks, North Pole, & surrounding areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
- Investigates problem and performs repairs on various mechanical and electrical equipment in heating oil fired boilers, and furnaces
- Performs and understands combustion analysis in order to optimize performance on oil fired boilers and furnaces
- Performs preventative maintenance on various mechanical and electrical equipment in heating oil fired boilers, and furnaces
- Monitors and inspects heating oil fired boilers and furnaces to ensure continued proper operation
- Removes old boilers/furnaces, and installs new oil fired heating systems
- Locates, picks up, and delivers parts required for department needs
- Repair and maintenance of hot air and hot water heating systems.
- Will be required to carry company phone and be available during the course of the workday.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Three years of oil-fired boiler and furnace repair, maintenance and installation experience
- Knowledge/experience of plumbing, mechanical and electrical involved with the heating field
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License with clean record. No CDL required, but will drive company vehicles
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is not a rotational job on the North Slope. You must live in the Fairbanks / North Pole area or be willing to relocate at your own expense.
