The Civil Construction Manager (CCM) provides oversight and management of projects including self-perform construction activities, estimating, pre-construction services, quality control, and project manager support. The CCM, together with the respective General Manger, is responsible for managing construction projects with emphasis on safety, quality, environmental compliance, and superintendence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare estimates, budgets, and schedules for self-perform work. 
  • Provide leadership and support to project managers and project engineers to ensure the work is executed in a timely manner with attention to quality and safety.
  • Hiring, directing and supervising of project personnel.
  • Contract management for subcontractors and material purchase contracts.
  • Resource management (labor, equipment, materials and tools required).
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure conformity with QA/QC specifications and requirements, Industry Codes, Standards and Procedures, and provides technical advice to resolve problems.
  • Manage procurement, logistics and buyout of project materials.
  • Track project Key Performance Indicators to determine accurate status of the project, making tactical decisions for allocating resources, and assigning staff requirements, to maintain project on target.
  • Review reports from Superintendents to ensure schedule and budget, following up as necessary.
  • Design-build review for constructability.
  • Provide input for value engineering.
  • Contractual administration for billing, change orders, and request for equitable adjustment.
  • Facilitate subcontractor and owner meetings.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and DCVRs in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Serve as liaison for local authorities, environmental agencies, and federal entities.
  • Promote ASRC shareholder hire and development for all projects.
  • Responsible for conflict escalation process and resolving issues in a timely fashion.
  • Regular jobsite visits to inspect and provide technical support, including safety audits.
  • Provide direction to the client/owner for quality deficiencies and provides action to remedy defective work.
  • Responsible for managing and implementing onsite safety program, including site-specific safety plans.
  • Ensures that all the construction safety rules and regulations are being observed and all safety documentation is completed and filed.
  • Lead by example and support Zero-Incident culture.
  • Draft Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
  • Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationship with all departments, employees and customers in a team-oriented environment.
  • Well organized, self-starter, and good time management skills.
  • Ability to work well under extreme pressure and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or another related field.
    • Additional experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Ten (10) years’ significant industrial and commercial construction experience; may include management experience related field supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. 

 Preferred

  • Ability to obtain QCSM certification.
  • OSHA 30 Certified
  • Ability to complete the Supervisor Signs and Symptoms with 30 days of employment.
  • OSHA 510: 30hr Construction
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Architecture, or Construction/Project Management

The work environment is in a busy construction setting.  The noise level in the work environment is usually varies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
