The heavy duty mechanic will assist maintaining a large fleet on the North Slope. The fleet consists of heavy truck/tractor, light duty pickups and a large variety of specialized oilfield equipment.  This is a fulltime regular position. Mechanics will be on a 2 week on 2 week off rotation working a minimum of 12 hours a day.



  • Inspect heavy vehicles and equipment to diagnose malfunction.
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including lubrication and oil changes in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Required to fill out Job Hazard Analysis
  • Repair heavy construction vehicles and equipment such as bulldozers, cranes, dump trucks, front-end loaders, motor graders, tractor-trailers, vac trailers, water trucks, scrapers, and other heavy equipment
  • Adjust, repair, and replace engines, fuel systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, suspension, steering, and transmissions.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools and general work area.
  • Prepare and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Be able to lift and carry 75 pounds
  • Must have a positive and hardworking attitude
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have minimum of five (5) years in heavy truck or heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Mechanics are required to supply their own tools for this position.
  • Experience with the following equipment:
    • Heavy truck or heavy equipment
    • Diesel and gas engines (Caterpillar, Cummins)
    • Hydraulic systems


  • Experience in the oil and gas industry preferred
  • Experience working in an arctic environment preferred. 



  • A valid Driver's License is required.
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) certification required. 
  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver's license with current DOT medical card preferred.

A candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:                                                               

  • Take and pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both UA and hair testing.                         
  • Meet the physical requirements of this position including working in a remote location under arctic conditions.
  • Required to take and pass a Fit-For-Duty Exam.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location.

The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company’s continued operational needs once training is completed.
