Crane Operator/Heavy Equipment Operator (CDL Required) – WNS – Roads & Pads Group
JOB SUMMARY
The Crane Operator / Heavy Equipment Operator reports directly to the Roads & Pads Foreman and plays a vital role in the safe, efficient, and effective operation of heavy machinery to support field operations. This position requires expertise in operating various types of heavy equipment such as: Cranes (150-ton Link-Belt, 150-ton Link-Belt Lattice Crane, 100-ton RT, and 90-ton RT), front-end loaders, motor graders, excavators, snowblowers, dozers, skid-steers, fuel-trucks, super-suckers, and tractor-trailer combinations.
The primary responsibilities include executing critical crane lifts, managing crane operations, and ensuring proper crane support while maintaining roads, drill site pads, and performing winter snow removal. Additionally, this role involves organizing and handling materials on-site, managing equipment logistics, and assisting in various operational tasks as needed.
Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements is required to operate fuel-trucks and safely transport materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Safely and efficiently operate 150-ton Link-Belt Lattice cranes, 100-ton RT cranes, 90-ton RT cranes, front-end loaders, motor graders, excavators, snowblowers, dozers, skid-steers, fuel-trucks, super-suckers, and tractor-trailer combinations.
· Plan, rig, modify boom configurations, and execute safe and efficient crane lifts in support of Alpine Field operations.
· Ensure proper rigging, signaling, and load inspections to maintain safety and compliance with industry standards.
· Interpret load charts and determine load capacities for various tractor-trailer configurations.
· Maintain and repair roads, drill site pads, and other infrastructure.
· Perform winter snow removal and other seasonal site maintenance tasks.
· Provide equipment support for drilling rig moves and facility maintenance/construction.
· Assist in handling, organizing, and transporting materials as business needs dictate.
· Maintain OSHA certification for trenching and excavation, performing related tasks safely and proficiently.
· Set up roadway delineators, culvert covers, snow poles, pit liners, traffic control devices, and work zone barriers.
· Conduct pre-operation inspections, identify malfunctions, and submit maintenance requests.
· Monitor equipment performance, inspect, adjust, and perform minor repairs as needed.
· Keep detailed logs, records, and timecards related to equipment usage and operations.
· Utilize rotary lasers and site levels to establish and maintain proper grade.
· Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies, PPE, tools, and equipment.
· Perform occasional roustabout responsibilities as needed.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
· Must be authorized to work in the United States.
· A High School Diploma or GED is required.
· A valid (U.S issued, Alaska compliant) Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements is required.
· A current DOT Medical Card is required.
· An NCCCO Crane certification for Large Hydraulics and Lattice-boom Cranes is required.
· A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
· The ability to work 80.5 hours a week on a 3x3 rotation is required.
· At least five (5) years of experience working as a Crane Operator/Heavy Equipment Operator on the North Slope or in the Oil and Gas industry is required.
· At least five (5) years of experience operating 150-ton Link-Belt Lattice cranes, 100-ton RT cranes, and 90-ton RT cranes are required.
· At least three (3) years of experience operating fuel trucks, super suckers, and tractor trailers are required.
· At least three (3) years of experience operating loaders, excavators, graders, and snowblowers are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· A current OSHA Trenching and Excavation Safety certification is preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE
While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms.
Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet are free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc.
Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
