The Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for the oversight and compliance of safety requirements and wellbeing company employees, subcontractors, vendors, and general public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide general safety oversight for assigned construction projects.
- Observe worked performed and ensure safety standards are met, reporting and resolving deficiencies.
- Perform safety meetings, as directed by the Project Manager or leadership.
- Conduct daily safety and health inspections, and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections.
- Develop and implement accepted Accident Preventions Plans (APP), Activity Hazard Analysis (AHAs), and Environmental Prevention Plans (EPP).
- Implement and enforce the Company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies and Programs.
- Maintain a safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
- Ensure sub-contractor and vendor compliance with safety and health requirements and maintain applicable regulatory safety reference materials on site.
- Track and review employee training records, licenses, and certifications.
- Travel to project locations and attend training, as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Ability and wiliness to abide by the company’s code of conduct, policies and procedures.
- Ability to problem solve on the fly to ensure the project stays in compliance with all local, state, federal, and ownership requirements.
- Comply, understand, and support the company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.
- Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
- Knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
- Detail oriented and organized.
- Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Ability to prioritize and multi task to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to comply with, understand, and support ASRC Construction’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years’ related safety experience, in a supervisory capacity.
- Current OSHA 30-hour certification, or ability to complete within 90 days of hire.
- Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 and 1910 as it pertains to heavy industrial or commercial construction.
- SSHO with healthcare construction experience.

The work environment is in a busy construction setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually varies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
