The MIS Technician is responsible for assisting the ASRC MIS Manager and MIS System Administrator with the implementation, maintenance, support, and reporting functions of the company’s management information systems department to ensure their operational readiness on a daily basis.

Under the direction of the MIS Manager, the primary responsibilities are to ensure timely and consistent setup and deployment of and accurate inventory of mobile devices, miscellaneous electronics and computers purchased for and deployed to ASRC Construction employees and to ensure information management solutions that support ASRC Construction enterprise-wide strategies operate at peak efficiencies; and provide analysis, consultation and coordination through relevant personnel to implement and maintain planning related to effective use of technology related to these products and services. The Technician will also assist the System Administrator who manages the operation and maintenance of information, data and reporting process systems and the requisite hardware and software to support the enterprise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  1. Maintain the Company Assets inventory for all mobile and computing devices supporting the ASRC Construction group of companies.
  2. Assist with operating and maintaining the management information reporting services which support the company’s business strategy and enable effective performance monitoring
  3. Provide input for business process re-engineering and database systems strategy
  4. Provide assistance as needed to ensure the consistency and high availability of existing applications by maintaining and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions
  5. Identifies user needs, collaborate with users across all levels of the organization
  6. Develop professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
  7. Act as the alternate to the MIS Systems Administrator

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s degree in, or enrolled in a course of studies working toward a bachelor’s degree in administration of information technologies or systems or related subject
  2. One (1) to two (2) years of related work experience and a desire to pursue continued education and training in the field of Information Systems management
  3. Possess a basic understanding of the use and maintenance of minor property inventory systems and management information systems for business planning, reporting and control
  4. Ability to communicate with a variety of internal contacts regarding technology and its application in the administrative and operational environment
  5. Technical ability, inventory management skills, security management skills and ability to communicate information technology data and terms understandably for others
  6. Excellent numerical and technical skills on databases and spreadsheets
  7. Ability to work to strict deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
  8. Strong familiarity with the function and setup of Microsoft Office products
  9. Familiarity with Windows Server operating systems and SQL Server and SQL query language
  10. Familiarity with Vista by Viewpoint, SharePoint site management, OnCenter On-Screen Take-off, Primavera P6 Scheduling, and security and management of cloud-based storage services desired
  11. Valid Alaska Driver’s License

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work environment is in a busy office setting.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
