Driver

The Truck Driver is responsible for safely hauling aggregates as required for the Wainwright Power Plant project. The Truck Driver reports to the Superintendent on the Wainwright Power Plant project.

• Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights and brakes to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.

• Obey traffic laws and follow written and transportation procedures.  

• Assist with emergency repairs such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, chains and spark plugs.

• Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Capable of driving and operating a 10 cubic yard dump truck. 

• Ability and wiliness to abide by the company’s code of conduct, policies and procedures.

• Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

• Willingness to work and learn the processes of pulling orders and loading materials on the truck.

• Must be able to take direction when working with co-workers and supervisors.

Required

• Valid Driver's License

Preferred

• Prior work experience as an equipment operator or aggregate truck driver preferred.

Must be physically capable of handling haul truck dump bed chains, gates, and dump bed covers.

The work environment is in a busy construction setting.  The noise level in the work environment is usually varies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
