The Project Estimator is responsible for participating in estimating efforts on a wide range of project from under $1 million up to $50 million. The incumbent works with the project team to identify and distribute estimating/proposal duties, communicating effectively on scope and schedule with potential subcontractors, performing pricing and takeoff for permanent materials, and helping to quantify production rates on scopes of work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the development of bid strategies required for the company to be successful as well as plan and coordinate and supervise projects.
- Assist corporate and project management teams to determine what types of projects to bid, strategies, techniques, etc.
- Assist in the review of final estimate packages to insure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.
- Assist with negotiations and/or contract terms and conditions, as needed.
- Participate in presentations to management and clients.
- Provide technical assistance in pricing contracts, change orders, and related requests as required.
- Assist in the preparation of studies, materials and methods, recommendations, and cost estimates, as required.
- Act as project estimator on large or complex estimates and proposals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or another related field.
- The equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree.
- The equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree.
- Five (5) years’ overall construction experience (may include trade, or project management) including organizational skills, supervisory responsibilities, decision making, as well as problem solving skills.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in similar facility construction estimating or proposal development.
- Experience in construction and estimating of vertical construction, concrete, and related functions.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of vertical construction to include foundation concrete, structural steel, roofing and wall systems.
- Advanced management or technical training pd.

The work environment is in a busy construction setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually varies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
