This position coordinates material purchases and some logistics activities with applicable suppliers and staff within the Builders Choice Lumber, LLC Purchasing Department. This position supports Operations to ensure accurate and timely purchasing, shipping and receiving of materials.  Position also works with the accounting department in accordance with company policies and represents the company in a professional and ethical manner while developing relationships with new and existing vendors.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure timely purchasing of inventory for our building material supply and truss building needs.
• Ensure the timely flow of information to suppliers, accounting department, specifically accounts payable (AP), shipping and receiving, and sales personnel requesting goods.
• Maintain proper records to document purchases.
• Work cooperatively with other departments in identifying/improving purchasing efficiencies for each location.  Including Min/Max, purchase frequency, and timing of the purchase.
• Work effectively with requestors to ensure correct information is provided and material is purchased in a cost-effective manner.
• Make sure materials ordered are identified appropriately, specifically as they pertain to hazardous material, and packaged appropriately for shipment.
• Review MRP reporting to ensure timely replenishment of inventory.
• Expedite and manage inbound PO’s to ensure timely delivery.
• Track returns to vendors to ensure goods and credit PO’s are properly received.
• Resolve problems concerning purchasing and logistics, supplier or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers.
• Perform purchasing process in software from inception to close out.
• Coordinate logistics activities based on the requirements of the order and communicate with requestor lead times.  (Sales/Branch Managers)
• Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability.
• Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Logistic or business discipline preferred.
• 2‐5 years purchasing and/or logistic experience ideally gained through inventory management\purchasing for a wholesale\retail business. 
• Working knowledge of purchasing, tracking and payments systems.
• Ability to manage internal and external stakeholder communication with commensurate written and verbal skill.
• Adhere to deadlines with a high degree of proficiency and accuracy.
• Display knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to the Inupiat Culture.
