JOB SUMMARY


The Heavy Duty Mechanic services and repairs and maintains heavy duty trucks and equipment in the shop and field.   

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)


To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Diagnose and complete repairs on Company and Rental heavy equipment  (Caterpillar, Hitachi, Volvo), as well as scissor lifts, telehandlers, and boom lifts (Genie, JLG, etc.).
  • Confer with and take direction from the Shop Foreman regarding all repairs and the extent of repairs necessary
  • Complete requisitions for the materials/parts required to complete repairs
  • Perform incidental welding on equipment, fabrication skills are a plus
  • Responsible to ensure that all work is completed in a safe manner
  • Work with other shop and company employees in a positive manner
  • Always act in a courteous manner in order to project a positive company image
  • Assist with other duties as required
  • Travel to remote locations will be required
  • Ability and wiliness to abide by ACHC code of conduct, policies and procedures
  • Understand, comply and participate in company safety policies and processes in support of the ACHC Safety Culture and to ensure a safe work environment
  • Display knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License required, Commercial Driver’s License preferred
  • Current Medical Card
  • Five (5) years’ experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment
  • Ability and willingness to abide by ACHC code of conduct, policies and procedures
  • Ability to work outside or in a cold environment for long durations
  • Display knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to the Inupiat Culture
