The Bull Cook is an entry level position that assists in the preparation of large quantities of food. Daily preparation, production, stocking and presentation of a variety of foods, breakfast, entrees/soups, salads, salad bar accompaniments, pantry production, maintaining serving line levels, cleaning and sanitizing of preparation areas, equipment, and baking. This position may be a nighttime position.

Clear Air Force Station is a facility of national security interest. Access to the Station requires a comprehensive national background screening. Applicants who cannot obtain access to the Station will not be considered. Base access can be denied based on any type of criminal history, regardless of the offense or time elapsed. 


  • Cook such food items as breakfast, lunch and dinner foods, brew coffee, drinks, tray items, sandwiches, salad dressings, meat items, cheese or vegetable trays, salad bar items, etc. according to menus, or numbers of portions to be served.
  • Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
  • Responsible for unloading and putting away freight, frequently lifting boxes weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment.
  • Check that food supplies are properly rotated and dated.
  • Prepare all food to meet quantity and service schedule.
  • Handle food in accordance with ADEC sanitary procedures and standards. 
  • Comply with all federal, Alaska state and local regulatory procedures regarding food production.
  • Maintain kitchen sanitation and safety standards, including proper storage and sanitation of kitchen equipment.
  • Work a variety of shifts, including overnight. 
  • Act in a courteous and professional manner and successfully communicate to personnel, contractors, and local residents.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.  



  • Ability and wiliness to abide by the company’s code of conduct, policies and procedures.
  • Comply, understand, and support the company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services which  includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Ability to be creative while cooking.
  • Ability to work independently as well as work as part of team.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and productive work ethic.
  • Good judgment and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities and time effectively.


  • Obtain a current Food Worker Card issued by ADEC and Serve Safe certification within thirty days of hire. 
  • Experience in the use of common commercial kitchen equipment and tools. 
  • Ability to work early morning or evening shifts, as well as days, weekends and holidays
  • Experience operating and cleaning standard kitchen equipment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Fire Extinguisher certification. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any clearances required for the position, including base access requirements. 
  • Ability to obtain any medical clearances required to perform the essential functions of the job. 
  • Ability to frequently lift boxes up to 60 pounds. 
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check


  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. 
  • Experience in a kitchen.
